Education
At SCCMA, we believe that every child should have the opportunity for an excellent education. As part of its core mission of equipping children with quality educational foundation, the center works with various local communities in Addis Ababa to evaluate and select the most impoverished boys and girls to attend a free early childhood education including Daycare, Nursery and Kindergarten which are often inaccessible for poor families in Ethiopia. SCCMA also provides access to essential learning materials – books, school and teaching supplies.
All of our boys and girls between the age of 3 to 6, attend school during the day at our child friendly facilities with plenty of activities.
In collaboration with key stakeholders (local and national government, international NGO’s, families and our loyal supporters) such as family and friends, SCCMA have been able to crate access to education for over 400 children of age 3-6. This includes educational, food, financial and material support.to both schools and families across our selected areas of Addis Ababa.
As part of its community development program, SCCMA runs an afterschool services for children and youth between the age of 6 – 18. Such services include mentorship, educational support and recreational activities to name a few. Such activities provide a quiet study area for the group to do their homework that normally not available in their home because most of them lives in one room accommodation with two or more siblings.
In addition to our educational support programs, SCCMA runs different sporting and cultural activities to tackle key social issues affecting young people including gang-related activities, crime, educational underachievement, school exclusions and anti-social behavior. The main objectives of activities are to build empowered and responsible young citizens across Addis Ababa and beyond.
