Just like the rest of the world, the impact of Corona Virous (Covid-19) epidemic has been felt in Ethiopia, particularly in the neediest families and children’s lives supported by SCCMA. Life for these children and their families could have been literally stopped, if it was not for the kind support and hard work of our donors, staff, and leadership teams.
As part of SCCMA’s commitment to our community’s health and safety, we have rapidly adapted a ‘stay at home’ food and educational support strategy. As part of this strategy, SCCMA has continued providing food and educational support to our existing children’s and their family totaling 540 members with limited capacity.
Below is some of the work our dedicated teams are doing to ensure that children survive, learn, and are protected throughout this difficult time.
- We have prepared and distributed Covid-19 awareness health promotion flyers for children and their families.
- Distributing food such as rice, cooking oil, flour, Beso (roasted barley based which is good for maintaining good health and controlling hunger).
- Providing proper personal hygiene materials such as soap.
- Distributed face mask to children and family members made by our own women in sewing classes
- Providing home schooling for KG students (52) by printing books and painting materials such as colors.
- After school kids home tutorial to 137 students from KG to high school. This includes providing printed educational material to all children.
Please donate and support us so that we can continue feeding and educating these children and their families.
Thsi is a great work! I really admire your holistic support! saving the lives the of the poor with food aids, enriching their children’s mind with educational materials and protecting them from COVID through health messgaes and facemask distribution.
Please engage the well-to do families in your locality to support the needy families as Dr. Abiy suggested (Sharing food). Your organization can work as a bridge to facilitate this process.
Keep up the good work! May God bless your nurturing mind and hands!
